Open Gym Basketball — Expectations & Rules for All Hoopers
OpenGymBasketball.com does not own the gyms used for sessions. We rent these facilities from organizations that own them. Please treat every location with respect — we’re guests in their space. Cussing, Fighting or Any Threats, that HOOPER will be asked to leave immediately and not to return.
OpenGymbasketball.com Ambassador
Every session will have an Open Gym Basketball Ambassador onsite. They will work closely with the Gym Owners
The Ambassador is responsible for managing the session and checking in all registered Hoopers.
The Ambassador will “ACT” as a Referee for all “Runs”. Typically, an Ambassador is a HOOPER who loves OGB. Not a certified REF. BE KIND!
The Ambassador has the Right to Remove a BALLER from a Session due to inappropriate actions. Cussing and Fighting is automatic removal.
Arrival & Readiness
All Hoopers should arrive and be ready to play at least 15 minutes before the scheduled session start time.
Each player is paying to play, so please respect other Hoopers’ time and money.
Sessions begin promptly at the scheduled time.
MAX Players Per Session is 15. Minimal is 8 Per Session
The first 10 Hoopers to arrive will have “first dibs” on starting the open gym session.
Remaining players will be queued to play the next game against the winning team.
Open Gym Gameplay Format

-
Games are played to 11 points, win by 2.
-
Scoring system:
-
3‑pointers = 2 points
-
2‑pointers = 1 point
-
-
Time limit: 13 minutes per game.
Recommended but a NOT a rule – 3 Passes Per Offensive Possession So Everyone Gets A Touch. (Excluding fast breaks & backdoor cuts)
Fouls & Ball Check Up
The Ambassador will call fouls. Unless Agree Upon Before the Game.
When a foul is called, the offensive team checks the ball at the top of the key.
The Hooper checking in MUST pass the ball in for play to resume — no self‑starts.
Final Note For A Great Experience
These expectations are designed to keep every Open Gym session organized, fair, and high‑energy. Respect the game, respect the gym, and respect your fellow Hoopers — that’s how we keep the runs strong. Get In The Gym, Get In The Game
